The Benefits of Using Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP's) for Construction

Stronger, Lighter & Corrosion-Resistant Forever

ART Development's & Innovative, Eco Friendly, FRP's

Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) provide a compelling and forward-thinking response to the construction challenges we face. Spearheading this transformative journey is ART Development, a visionary venture established by Bahamian citizen Avery Lightbourn. With a passionate commitment to innovation, Avery Lightbourn has championed the introduction of FRPs to the Bahamas. Under his leadership, ART Development emerges as a trailblazing force, steering the construction landscape toward a future marked by ecological harmony and enduring structural integrity.

These FRPs, beyond offering a durable and rust-free solution, become the embodiment of a new era in construction, especially for homes gracing the oceanfront. As coastal environments demand vigilant protection against corrosion, FRPs emerge as the optimal choice, ensuring not just resilience but also aligning seamlessly with the coastal narrative.

Their endorsement by the Bahamian Government further underscores their potential, streamlining installation processes and expediting projects without compromising on quality. The very essence of progress, tangibly represented by ART Development and its champion Avery Lightbourn, now lies intertwined with these FRPs, resonating with promises of a steadfast, sustainable, and robust tomorrow.

Typical Rebar Rust & Corrosion

The journey of steel rebar begins with an unfortunate prelude - rust starts to take hold even before construction begins. This initial encounter with corrosion paves the way for years of gradual decay. However, there exists a robust counterpoint to this disheartening narrative: FRP's.

This innovative approach provides an unyielding answer to the distinct challenges presented by saltwater and the corrosive embrace of ocean air. The application of FRP materials crafts structures that stand tall against corrosion, defying its relentless advances. This fortitude translates to lasting longevity, ultimately alleviating the burdens of extensive maintenance.

Ecologically Sound Future

A New Era With FRP's

Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) stand at the forefront of ecologically sound construction, embodying a harmonious balance between innovation and environmental responsibility. With a substantially smaller carbon footprint compared to traditional materials, FRPs shine as the eco-conscious choice for sustainable development. Their lightweight nature not only streamlines construction processes but also minimizes the need for extensive labor, effectively reducing the strain on resources.

The inherent durability of FRPs extends structures' lifespans, mitigating the need for frequent replacements and significantly curbing waste. As we stand on the cusp of a new era, the utilization of FRPs represents more than a construction choice – it signifies a commitment to preserving the environment, reducing energy consumption, and fostering a future where both progress and ecology thrive hand in hand.

GFRP Institute Seminar

A focused seminar, where key figures, including the Ministry of Works Appellate Control Officer, gathered to discuss and approve materials related to civil infrastructure projects. Hosted by the FRP Institute for Civil Infrastructure, the seminar was dedicated to educating local engineers from both the public and private sectors in the Bahamas about the advantages of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRPs). These discussions, presentations, and networking sessions were organized by ART Development to highlight the commitment to advancing the use of GFRPs in civil engineering within the Bahamas.
